From the very beginning, the aim of the song festival was to maintain cultural traditions, and to support choirs and dance groups until the time when Latvia would be free from oppression again. The current festival will be replete with new works in music and dance, literature and art. The Latvian Song Festival Association in Canada, founded in 1958, to provide support for future festivals.

An orchestra, “kokle” ensemble, and soloists, including Arta Jekabsone and Maija Kovalevska, will join a chorus of over 900 singers at the Grand Choir Concert “Let’s, lec, Letts!”, one of Canada’s XVI Latvian Song and Dance Festival’s most anticipated events.
