ABOUT

VIVA Chamber Singers is an auditioned SATB choir for highly skilled youth and accomplished adult singers within the broader VIVA Singers Toronto organization. Youth members receive expert support throughout their teen years to be integrate them into the SATB ensemble experience. Emerging from VIVA’s youth programming, many adult Chamber members work as conductors, assistant conductors, accompanists, and Teaching Assistants, providing a superb choral experience for VIVA's singers, ages 4 through adult.

VIVA’s leadership is committed to commission and premier new works by prominent Canadian composers, by emerging composers through the biennial VIVA Composition Competition, and by our own choristers in the Creation Stream program. VIVA’s partnerships have facilitated unique opportunities for our young creators to benefit from composition coaching with conductor Lydia Adams and composer Dr. Tyler Versluis, with the benefit of reading sessions of their own compositions.

In addition to performing at the Noon Hour Choir & Organ Series at Roy Thomson Hall, VIVA Chamber Singers have enjoyed regular joint performances this season with: Associate Choir, the Elmer Iseler Singers; as guest artists with the National Ballet of Canada and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; and at inhouse concerts at Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre. VIVA and our full complement of choirs can be heard next on May 9 in Ramirez’ Misa Criolla along with the premier of the winning entry of VIVA’s Composition Competition 2025.

VIVA’s Chamber Singers continue to seek opportunities to live out VIVA’s motto, “EVERY VOICE MATTERS”, through our organization’s core values of artistry, inclusion, community, and leadership.
